Pforzheim: Cycle of Destruction

Exhibit with maroon panels and framed prints

Now on view!

Curated by Ben Malik, a student intern with the MHHE during summer 2023, this exhibition explores the history of the German town of Pforzheim, the harm that befell its Jewish community, and the Allied bombing during World War II that left only twenty percent of the town standing. The exhibit features sketches by Oskar Elsäßer, an artist who documented the destruction and helped raise funds for rebuilding and memorialization efforts after the war.
