V-Discs: How Music Shaped Soldiers’ Experiences

July 20, 2022 | 2:00 pm

Ever wonder what kind of music soldiers listened to during World War II? Then join us for our special event, “V-Discs: How Music Shaped Soldiers’ Experiences!” This program will introduce patrons, particularly with visual impairments to World War II through a soldier’s experience listening to V-Discs, recordings of big-name musical artists sent to servicemen and women fighting overseas. This event is designed to allow patrons to access our museum in a new way! Participants will engage with educators, learn about the history of V-Discs, handle artifacts, listen to music, and create a piece of art inspired by the music of the 1940s.
